Having run a video store, I was hesitant to join Netflix. But while there was a great video store near my apartment in Berkeley, it was far too expensive for the volume of my habit.

So I signed up for Netflix, 4-at-a-time. I managed to watch about 50 movies a month that way, making the per-disc cost about half a dollar.

When the time came to move, I cancelled my membership, not knowing when I'd have the time or money to get back in.

I managed to stay away for about a year and a half, during which time I started this comic, finished a book or more a week, and generally explored everything non-cinema.

My relapse came about because, well, Dagon likes to eat books, and the only time I'm at all free from his fuzzy, illiterate reign of terror is when I'm taking a bath, and even then he conspires against me every few minutes. Movies have proved the only plausible leisure activity.

What's your Netflix plan?
