10/15/2007#33  "Language and Mind"

Close friends develop patterns of communication that, to an outsider, are nearly unintelligible.

And I don't just mean in-jokes and shared experiences. Those go without saying.

I'm driving toward the way expression takes place, structurally. Kevin and I tend to downmix a half dozen or so tracks into a single conversation. The topics might be new or old, generic or highly specialized, and an observer would be wrong to assume a logical connection exists between them. Some threads are lengthy, lasting weeks or months or years, and others are merely observations, restricted to one or two fractured sentences.

Somehow, we understand each other.

Most of the time.

It really is a wonder we get anything done.

What is your dominant language?

Only humans may vote. Please type the name of the Roman god, deity, and/or hero that appears in the image below into the adjascent text field. Spambots best look elsewhere for the Deus ex Machina.
