In case you were wondering, I have always been a fucking weirdo. While my neighbors setup nice, respectable lemonade stands, I sat at the corner selling paper hats, planes and boats.

Adults passing by would occasionally notice me and approach, smiling. The smile then faded to an expression somewhere between pity and disgust as they realized my wares were not edible.

At the time I thought nothing of it. Perhaps the adults were more poor than I had realized. Sometimes I felt bad for them and offered a hat free of charge. They were good hats, deserving of decent heads.

As mentioned in the strip, I didn't make much money, certainly no more than a couple dollars total. But I wasn't bad off, as I also spent the summer collecting caterpillars, which I eventually traded to my friend for an action figure.
